The foundation for Evergreen Church rests on a deep spiritual connection. Jeremy and Mary first met the Lord on Easter in 2009. Years later, in 2017, Jeremy began working in full-time ministry at their local church. It was there that he met Michael. Instantly connecting over a shared passion for God, they quickly became best friends.
Michael soon met Holly, who was working at a different campus of the same church. In May 2022, Jeremy had a dream that Michael and Holly were dating, which became reality by December 2022! They married in June 2023.
Despite living in different parts of the state, the two couples committed to staying in close community. When God began stirring the idea of church planting in Tennessee, it was clear: Jeremy and Michael were being called to start this new venture together.

Teach the way of Jesus
cultivate Christ-centered communities
sow into our cities
believe and receive the harvest God has prepared for us
The journey to planting Evergreen Church began in the summer of 2023 when Jeremy felt a powerful new stirring from God. During his quiet time, he began sensing a clear direction that led him away from South Carolina. Even a role change at his home church made him wonder what God was planning next.
As the months passed, a deep love for Tennessee took root in Jeremy's heart, specifically for the Tri-Cities region (Bristol, Johnson City, and Kingsport). With Michael’s encouragement, Jeremy recognized this was a call to plant a church. The Holy Spirit provided powerful and repeated confirmation of this mission. By December 2023, a trip to Bristol with both couples sealed the vision. In 2026, the four of them (and possibly you!) will be relocating to launch Evergreen Church in the Tri-Cities.

Why the Tri-Cities?
Core Values
BIBLE
We believe the Bible is the living, powerful, and authoritative Word of God. Given to us through diverse human voices across thousands of years, its ultimate purpose is to reveal the heart of God through His Son, Jesus Christ. Because it is alive and active, the Bible holds ultimate authority in every aspect of our lives.
Belonging
Evergreen Church is a community where belonging comes first. You don't have to have everything figured out to join us; you are welcome exactly as you are. As followers of Christ, we are committed to actively loving and serving those around us, ensuring we create a space where everyone feels completely welcomed and deeply valued.
BREAKTHROUGH
The Bible’s good news is that God is continually working to restore His original creation design: human flourishing and perfect relationship. This mission was fulfilled through the sacrificial death and victorious resurrection of Jesus Christ.
We receive salvation by grace through faith, restoring our vertical relationship with God and our horizontal relationships with others. Beyond salvation, we are called to move forward: we believe Jesus leads us into transformative freedom in every facet of life.

BECOMING
As we experience breakthrough in our lives, we are actively transformed to become more like our Savior, Jesus. The closeness of our walk with Him directly reflects how much we resemble Him. This journey of Christ-like transformation is absolutely central to everything we do, both as individuals and as a church community.
BEHOLDING
The beauty of seeing the world through a redemptive lens is recognizing that the Kingdom of Heaven is here and now! Our purpose isn't to simply wait to get to heaven, but to actively bring heaven to earth. We are deeply passionate about seeing God's will done on earth as it is in heaven, experiencing and reflecting His tangible presence in our everyday lives.

Our Approach to the Word: Text, Context, & Your Story
At Evergreen, we believe the Bible isn’t just a collection of ancient advice—it’s a living, breathing narrative that explains where we’ve been and where we’re going. When you listen to a message here, you’ll notice a specific rhythm to how we handle the Scriptures:
Deep Roots (Exegesis)
We practice exegetical preaching, which is a fancy way of saying we let the Bible speak for itself. Instead of bringing our own ideas to the text, we "draw out" what is actually there. We dig into the original language, the historical setting, and the author’s intent to ensure we are building our lives on a firm foundation of truth.
From Then to Now (Text to Context)
Theology is meant to be lived. Our goal is to move from the Text (what it meant then) to your Context (what it means for you on Monday morning). We bridge the gap between the dusty roads of Galilee and the modern streets of Bristol, helping you see how ancient truth intersects with your current reality.
The Power of the Story
God chose to reveal Himself primarily through a story, and we believe storytelling is the most powerful way to capture the human heart. By weaving our own biographies—the mess, the "unsafe" turns, and the victories—into the Greatest Story ever told, we find our place in God's plan.
